We are excited to announce: Phala is now a proud member of the Linux Foundation and the Confidential Computing Consortium. 🎉

The Confidential Computing Consortium is a global tech community established by the Linux Foundation to enable new public cloud scenarios (e.g., migrating extremely sensitive data to the cloud, and enabling multi-party sharing scenarios that have been difficult to build due to privacy, security, and regulatory requirements).

“The Confidential Computing Consortium will define Confidential Computing and accelerate its acceptance and adoption in the market.” — CCC

It includes participation from a diverse group of members — Google, Microsoft, Intel, AMD, Nvidia, Facebook, AMD, etc. — of semiconductor manufacturers, cloud infrastructure organizations, hardware vendors, and software developers.

To learn about what is “confidential computing”, you may refer to the video down below 👇:

Phala Network, Confidentiality by TEE

Phala is a TEE-blockchain confidential computing solution to data protection. It’s designed to be open-source, developer-friendly, and community-driven. With the in-born economical incentives, Phala is building a powerful, scalable, and truly decentralized confidential cloud network to serve various scenarios featured by data protection and privacy-preserving.

In CCC Community Outreach Plan, SGX (the Intel TEE) is a crucial technology of hardware-level confidential computing. Driven by SGX-abled nodes, Phala protects raw data and programs from attacks or tampers by running them in the Enclaves of each CPU area, which enables the data owners or data-sensitivity-valued institutions to 100% control the authorization and data utilities.

Confidential Computing protects data in use by performing computation in a hardware-based Trusted Execution Environment. These secure and isolated environments prevent unauthorized access or modification of applications and data while they are in use, thereby increasing the security level of organizations that manage sensitive and regulated data. — Confidential Computing: Hardware-Based Trusted Execution for Applications and Data

CCC and Web3.0

The membership of CCC will help Phala to better educate and popularize SGX-based Phala technologies in global open-source developer communities. Also, it would witness how Phala plays the role of the next-generation permissionless confidential computing cloud service. Phala will continuously explore the border of confidential computing with other members, and make Web3.0 a better place.

About Phala
